Hakeem Adewumi closing reception of the Seeing Further Exhibit
The George Washington Carver Museum cordially invited the community to attend an artist talk and closing reception for Seeing Further, a solo exhibition showcasing the artistic vision of Texas-based photographer, creative director, and artist Hakeem Adewumi, was held on Thursday, October 8th, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This was a final opportunity to engage with the exhibition in the presence of the artist.

As we bid Seeing Further a celebratory farewell, Adewumi returns to the Carver for a special artist talk and curated walkthrough beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. Joining us in conversation is Regine Malibiran, New York-based curator, writer, and arts advocate. Reunited as artist and curator, the duo will reflect upon the exhibit, Hakeem’s discoveries and imaginations around the ethos of Juneteenth and the many evolving definitions we have for freedom.

Also on view in the Carver drum is “Uncovering Carver”, featuring artifacts and memorabilia from the museum's in-house collection, dedicated to Dr. George Washington Carver. This new window exhibition reflects upon the way Dr. Carver is remembered today, in comparison to his scientific contributions to both Tuskegee University and the United States’ farming industry.
