Patti LaBelle performed at Bass Concert Hall, Austin Texas 2022
Multi-Grammy Award winner, Patti LaBelle returned to Austin for her first performance since Rodeo Austin in 2017 with her show at Bass Concert Hall on Monday, February 14th, 2022. LaBelle said on Tuesday that she was 77 years old and glad to be back in Austin.
At 77, Patti LaBelle sounds good and still hits the high notes on “If Only You Knew” as she did decades ago. There was a standing ovation for LaBelle’s efforts. LaBelle performed several of the crowd’s favorites, “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Somebody Loves You, Baby.” After a short wardrobe change, LaBelle performed “On My Own”, a song she recorded with Michael McDonald.
There was a Gospel Medley of “He Cares”, “When you been Blessed” and “Sumptin’ ‘Bout the Name of Jesus.” It felt like the church in Bass Concert Hall. LaBelle ended her 75 minutes show with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “Lady Marmalade” with a little bit of “Bad Girls”.
I hope the grandmother of Soul finds another reason to come back to Austin again soon. We all enjoyed her excellent performance.
